Japanese wooden LED bulbs create a visual enjoyment of burning flames

A work designed by young Japanese designer Ryosuke Fukusada looks like a light bulb-shaped wood carving at first glance, but it is actually a handmade LED lamp! The perfect combination of modernity and traditional Japanese craftsmanship allows the light bulb to exude a unique feel even when it is not turned on.

Ryosuke Fukusada is made using the traditional Japanese wood carving technique "Rokuro". The pine wood is placed on a lathe and rotated to be the thinnest, with a thickness of only about 2 to 3 mm. In this way, light can penetrate through the thin wood layer, and combined with the original texture of the wood, it creates a visual experience like burning.

In addition, Ryosuke Fukusada specially chooses LED lights with cold light sources, so that there is no need to worry about overheating of the bulbs and damaging the wood surface, and it can visually emit a warm glow.

This wooden light bulb won the Kyoto Renaissance Design Award, and the complex manual production process also allowed this lamp to set a price of 2,000 euros.
