Antai Technology cooperates with sapphire giant to expand production capacity 4 times in the second half of the year

It is reported that Antai Technology (000969.SZ) has business cooperation with American sapphire material supplier GT Advanced (NASDAQ: GTAT) in terms of sapphire growth furnace body and supporting materials. Currently, the production of refractory materials supporting LED semiconductors is almost full. The LED semiconductor supporting refractory materials project is also expected to be put into production in June, and the production capacity in the second half of the year is expected to be approximately four times the original production capacity.
In the first half of this year, a set of latest pictures were exposed about the sapphire factory jointly built by Apple and GT Advanced in Mesa, Arizona, showing that Apple is actively expanding its sapphire production base. Industry insiders predict that the production capacity of GT's new factory will reach 6,000 tons per year, all of which will be supplied to Apple. This also means that GT Company’s demand for upstream sapphire crucibles has surged. Currently, Elmet in the United States is GT Company’s crucible supplier.
Antai Technology’s overall revenue from sapphire crucibles last year was about 60-70 million yuan. The original annual production capacity of sapphire crucibles was about 500-600 tons, and the LED semiconductor supporting refractory material project invested at the end of 2010 has completed civil construction in the first half of the year and has entered the process equipment installation and trial production stages. It is expected to officially start production in June and gradually release production capacity in the second half of the year. After the project is completed, it is expected to achieve an annual output of 1,630 tons of high-performance tungsten and molybdenum materials for LED semiconductors.
Antai Technology stated that the large-size tungsten-molybdenum sintered product equipment produced by the company is mainly sold to LED equipment manufacturers for LED sapphire substrate growth and MOCVD equipment. Since alloy thermal fields have high entry barriers and are consumables, the average service life is 3 years and the sales price is around 800,000 yuan/set. The current demand in the entire market is 3,000 units per year, and is increasing at an annual rate of 15%. The market potential is huge.
