For automotive and industrial lighting applications, Linear released a new LED driver

For automotive and industrial applications such as lighting technology (Linear, Technology): 45V, high side current sensing DC/DC converter LT3519, specifically designed to drive high current LED, with 3V to 40V input voltage range.

It is understood that LT3519 can drive up to 10 100mA white LED from the input of the 12V, making it ideal for diverse applications such as automotive and industrial lighting. It can provide up to 90% efficiency through the boost mode from the fine small MSOP-16E package. Through True Color PWM dimming, can provide a range of more than 3000:1 of fixed LED color; and for the lower demand dimming applications, CTRL pin can be used to provide 10:1 analog dimming. This component of constant frequency, constant current, constant voltage regulation, can provide stable operation in a wide range of supply and output, while ensuring the consistency of the LED brightness. Currently offers three options: LT3519 switching frequency can be switched to 400kHz, LT3519-1 can switch on 1MHz, LT3519-2 provides 2.2MHz switching frequency, so that designers can optimize the efficiency, and at the same time will be reduced to the smallest size of external components.

LT3519 integrates 45V, 750mA switches, Schottky diodes, and internal compensation, providing a very fine small LED driver solution. LT3519 can detect the output current on the high side of the LED, and can carry out the buck, buck or boost configuration. These converters, combined with conventional voltage feedback and unique floating current sensing feedback, provide the highest design flexibility as a constant voltage or constant current source. Other features include open circuit LED protection, soft start and thermal protection.

Currently, LT3519EMS, LT3519EMS-1 and LT3519EMS-2 supply MSOP-16 package. The extended temperature version, or "I" class version of LT3519IMS, LT3519IMS-1 and LT3519IMS-2, has been tested and guaranteed to operate at a temperature range of -40 DEG C to 125 C.
