Taiwan will invest 700 million yuan in new road lighting

Recently, the Taiwan economic minister Shi Yanxiang (Shih Yen-shiang) announced that the government of Taiwan will invest 700 million yuan NT (equivalent to about $23 million 250 thousand) for the replacement of 53000 showed street lights. This policy will be implemented in January 2012. Shi Yanxiang said the move has two purposes: first, led more energy saving; second, to support local enterprises, so that the international competitiveness. Shi Yanxiang also said Taiwan has previously worked with LED production enterprises, EPISTAR and Everlight electronics talks.

2010 Global LED packaging industry accounted for 24.1% of South Korea, Taiwan is $19.1%. Taiwan government is stepping up efforts to enhance the competitiveness of local enterprises, because Taiwan is still looking forward to the local LCD and DRAM services to promote the economy of Taiwan.
