Integrated single point correction function of the 16 channel constant current drive can provide dynamic LED brightness control
Days ago, TI (TI) announced the launch of the 16 channel constant current sink type light emitting diode (LED) driver TLC5942 and TLC5945, with a single IC support single point correction and gray control function, so as to realize high quality video. TLC5942 and TLC5945 driver provides the better system reliability and dynamic brightness control function for the design staff, enhance a variety of applications such as large panel resolution, monochrome, multicolor or full-color LED display, LED billboard and display background lighting. As TI popular TLC5940 series expansion of the products, TLC5942 and TLC5945 provide analog and digital dimming function for high performance large LED screen with integrated IC. TLC5942 provides a single point correction function of 128 steps, in order to compensate for the problem of LED lighting mismatch, and through independent serial port interface for gray level control and single point correction function. The maximum current value of all 16 channels can be set by an external resistor. Parallel channels can provide greater current. TLC5945 for video display has been optimized to provide a very fast refresh rate, support for the 30MHz data transmission rate without delay, so it can meet the requirements of fast motion video games and other sports events.
TLC5942 and TLC5945 have two fault detection circuit, respectively LED open circuit detection (LOD) markers and thermal error (TEF). LOD can identify disconnected or disconnected LED during display. TEF can indicate the over temperature condition, that is, if the TEF shows that there is a problem of heat dissipation, all output drivers will be closed. After the device is cooled, the TEF is empty, and all output drivers are restarted.

8 channel LED driver
TI has launched a 8 channel LED driver TLC5916 and TLC5917, which supports a variety of general LED display system, such as LED signs, LED lighting, household appliances, games and entertainment systems, and other general LED lighting applications. All of the above devices support constant current control and open circuit load, short circuit load and over temperature detection. The two device also uses the 8 bit shift register and data latches, the serial input data can be converted into independent channel switch control and packet brightness data. TLC59xx product series is now available in volume, can be ordered through TI and its global network of distributors. TLC5945 features: the TLC5942 is available in a 32 lead QFN or a 28 lead HTSSOP package. The TLC5916 and TLC5917 are available in a 16 lead SOIC or a 16 lead TSSOP package.
