On May 16, according to news from Weiyang Economic Development Zone in Yangzhou, Jiangsu Province, the first phase of Pathfinder Group's "Xinwei High-end Display Driver Chip Module and Infrared Packaging Project" officially started. After the project is completed and reaches production, it will be able to achieve an annual output of 300,000 packages and movement modules, forming an annual production capacity of 27,000 square meters of transparent display modules.
It is reported that in 2021, Pathfinder Group has formulated a dual-main business development model of "outdoor + chip". It hopes to break through industry barriers and create core competitive advantages by entering a new track and using technology to support it.
In the same year, Pathfinder took the lead in entering the LED industry, acquiring 60% of the equity of Beijing Xinneng with its own capital of 260 million yuan, and cross-border layout of Micro/Mini LED display driver IC, modules and other new businesses.
In 2023, Pathfinder invested again in the chip field and acquired 72.79% of the equity of G2 Touch, a display touch chip design company, for US$38.5202 million (approximately RMB 279 million), further increasing the proportion of the chip sector business.
Currently, Pathfinder’s chip sector business is developed through G2 Touch, Beijing Xineng and Jiangsu Dingmao Semiconductor Co., Ltd., and its products cover full-category touch chip design, Micro/Mini LED display driver IC design, chip packaging and testing, and smart equipment.Provide corresponding solutions and technical services at any time.
From a performance perspective, Pathfinder's chip business currently accounts for a small proportion of the company's total revenue, but the business is growing rapidly. In 2023, Pathfinder will achieve revenue of 1.39 billion yuan, and outdoor business is still Pathfinder’s current main source of revenue, at 1.257 billion yuan. The chip business revenue was 133 million yuan, an increase of nearly 15 times year-on-year; the gross profit was 59.2 million yuan, an increase of 52.83 million yuan year-on-year.
In the first quarter of this year, Pathfinder achieved revenue of 382 million yuan, of which chip business revenue was 62.68 million yuan, a year-on-year increase of more than 160 times; it achieved a net profit attributable to the parent company of 22.48 million yuan, turning a loss into a profit year-on-year.
