OSRAM and SIEMENS LED China (Siemens Corporate Technology) Innovation Center experts work together to study the life cycle assessment of the lamp. Studies have shown that more than 98% of the LED compact fluorescent lamp energy is used to produce light, less than 2% of the energy consumption, especially the production of LED products may be completely energy intensive. The experimental results show that the initial energy consumption of incandescent lamp is about 3300kWh, and the energy consumption of LED lamp is less than 700kWh. Therefore, the LED lamp is more effective than the traditional incandescent lamp. In addition, this assessment shows that, compared with incandescent lamps, LED lamps have a smaller influence on the environment, because the LED energy efficiency increasing, therefore, in the future of life cycle assessment, LED lamp can be expected to obtain better assessment results.
Research Report shows that only from the perspective of energy consumption evaluation of LED lamp is not enough, OSRAM conducted a life cycle assessment of the LED light to analysis the influence of LED light in its entire life cycle process on the environment, in addition to a detailed analysis of each LED lamp production stage, but also the analysis of the LED chip and the lamp shell.
The report notes that, for the LED lamp life cycle assessment, in addition to direct raw material input and energy input, raw materials and emissions related to the re access to resources will be used as a reference record. Not only the resource consumption and the initial energy input, but also the acidification, eutrophication, greenhouse effect, ozone depletion and toxicity.
In the first phase of the LED lamp life cycle assessment, OSRAM's research shows that, even considering the cumulative energy input and environmental factors, LED lamp is a real alternative to incandescent lamps. As far as the lamp power is concerned, the traditional filament lamp is far behind the diode lamp. A 40W incandescent lamp can be replaced by a 8W compact fluorescent lamp or, for some applications, a 8WLED lamp can achieve 80% energy savings.
In order to ensure that the LED lamp life cycle assessment results are comparable, 25000 hours of service life has been selected as a reference. OSRAM chose the Parathom Classic Plus led --GoldenDragon A55, which is just the latest generation of LED, which can achieve this level of life. Experiments show that 25 incandescent (OSRAM Classic A40W) can be used for up to 1000 hours, compared to the use of the (Dulux Superstar Classic A8W), the service life of up to 10000 hours.
