New technology of integration of ultra high speed camera and infrared LED in University of Tokyo

Japan's University of Tokyo and zSpace recently reached an agreement to jointly develop the technology to integrate with zSpace immersive 3D platform. University of Tokyo professor Ishikawa Masato Ishikawa Watanabe's laboratory developed a new technology to integrate high speed tracking and hand gesture recognition, and information can be input to a zSpace based application in interactive platform. The system's high-speed 3D gesture interface uses an ultra high speed stereo camera, the camera can capture even a very subtle hand movements.

By combining the ultra high speed camera and infrared LED, the user will be able to manipulate the 3D object directly with both hands or stylus through the zSpace virtual platform environment. The system can make people realize the intuitive interaction with the real world. For example, the system can set a beating heart animation model hanging in an open space, users can use this technology to the heart in his hands, can also use the stylus accurately on the anatomy.

"Our laboratory study on sensory information processing in parallel, high-speed and real-time operation," Professor founder Ishikawa Masato Ishikawa Watanabe laboratory said, "through the use of zSpace and we have developed the technology, we have created a sense of human feeling strengthening technology. This will represent the next generation of information environment and the future of the man-machine interface based on all kinds of high speed technology. Relying on the establishment of the Ishikawa Watanabe laboratory Exvision company is currently preparing to commercialize this technology.
