A Morimi (ON Semiconductor) launched the NCP3065 semiconductor switching regulator is designed to efficiently drive low-voltage lighting, viewing lights and solar lighting, halogen bulb replacement, and the car and ship lighting used in high brightness light-emitting diode (HB-LED).
NCP3065 this 1.5 amp monolithic switching regulator has an extremely low voltage of 235 MV (mV) feedback. This feedback voltage is used to regulate the average current of a LED string configured with a constant current regulator. This extremely low feedback voltage also allows designers to use a smaller, more cost - sensitive sensor. Compared with the competitive devices with standard 1.25 V (V) feedback voltage, the power consumption of the NCP3065 is reduced by a factor of 80%, and the overall system energy efficiency is increased by up to 2%. The internal reference voltage of the NCP3065 can be adjusted to 2%, so that it can provide extremely stable flow even in the wide variation range of input voltage, LED forward voltage and inductance tolerance.
The input voltage of the device is wide, ranging from 3V to 40V, so it can be used under the 12Vac and 12Vdc power supply in the application of non regulated power supply, such as lighting and lead-acid batteries. This device can be configured as a controller topology, with an external transistor to support the LED current rating is higher than the internal transistor 1.5A switching current. With the boost configuration, the external switch also has a higher output voltage.
NCP3065 also offers a version suitable for automotive applications - NCV3065. NCP3065 and NCV3065 are using 4mm x 4mm DFN-8 package, each of the 10000 pieces of the unit price of $0.32. These devices are also available in SOIC-8 and PDIP-8 packages, with a bulk price of $0.30 per 10000 tablets.
