With favorable policies, OLED production is no longer just a matter of words.

OLED has the advantages of no need for backlight, thin and light size, high contrast, wide viewing angle, fast response, wide temperature range, flexibility, relatively simple structure and manufacturing process, etc. However, its shortcomings such as low yield, low light efficiency, short life, and high cost have also made it criticized. Although many display manufacturers have a "favorable impression" of it, they still maintain a wait-and-see attitude, such as:

Zhang Huabin, general manager of Absen's China business area: OLED is currently relatively expensive, costing about 400,000 yuan per square meter. If the cost problem of OLED can be solved, it will subvert all indoor display products.

Zhao Chunlei, deputy general manager of Dongshan Precision Marketing Center: Although OLED cannot solve the problem of seamless splicing at this stage, once it is mass-produced, its cost will drop faster than LED, and its stability, mass production type is much better than that of small spacing.

Han Leng, Vice President of Sales of Caiyida Optoelectronics: OLED faces two problems. The first is how to move towards smaller spacing in R&D design; the second is how to maintain a relatively open attitude to the outside world. I think an open attitude is very important. OLED is actually a very good thing, and its display effect is even better than that of LCD.

However, recently, relevant national departments issued the "Notice on the Implementation of Major Project Packages for Upgrading and Transformation of the Manufacturing Industry", which clearly stated that it is necessary to develop OLED evaporation process unit equipment components, evaporation equipment automated transfer systems, and lay out flexible displays. This means that the development of OLED display technology has attracted national attention, and favorable policies will accelerate market development.

US research company IDTechEx recently announced the latest OLED display market forecast, believing that the market will reach US$16 billion this year and is expected to reach US$57 billion by 2026.

At present, many companies have taken the lead and are carving a "bloody road" on the OLED road. For example, GQY Video said that the company wants to be an application provider of OLED displays and is actively considering integrating it into the company's comprehensive display solutions; LG has publicly stated that it will officially launch OLED digital signage business in 2016, and launched curved OLED splicing products at the IFA2015 exhibition; after Leyard acquired Planar, it also made it clear that OLED displays will focus on promoting specific commercial display fields, etc.

Therefore, it is not difficult to see that the promotion of OLED displays by large-screen display companies is no longer purely verbal, but has actively invested in technology research and development and industry applications. Nowadays, with favorable policies, the enthusiasm of enterprises will be even higher. Especially for domestic large-screen display enterprises, this may become an excellent opportunity to break the "following" model in the LCD era and achieve "overtaking on corners."

Although many relevant experts believe that the domestic OLED industry is still in its infancy, the OLED industrialization process in mainland China still has a long way to go. Moreover, world-class large companies such as Samsung and LGD have invested in the OLED field for many years, accumulated a large number of technologies and patents, and formed a certain monopoly. It is still unknown whether Chinese OLED companies, which started late, can survive and make profits in the increasingly brutal competition and maintain the competitiveness of their products. However, according to relevant agency predictions, by 2018, the large-size OLED screen market with TV as the core will be fully launched. In the next 10 years, OLED products are expected to account for 30% to 40% of the total proportion of the entire display market. With scale support based on the civilian market, OLED display prices are expected to loosen, and large-scale commercial use will no longer be far away. Therefore, OLED will still become the promising future star of flat panel display technology.
