August 15th, the U.S. Department of energy (DOE) released the seventeenth round of CALiPER project test results. Test shows that at least most of the LED PAR36 lamps can not effectively replace the same type of traditional halogen lamps, color and light intensity distribution is the main aspect of failure.
The test object is six LED PAR36 lamp (or AR111), the test results show that the comprehensive performance of such LED products behind other LED directional lights, such as PAR30 (BR30). The maximum lumen value of the measured object is only 588, the efficacy range between 31lm/W-58lm/W, although higher than halogen, but far less than other types of LED lamps. There are two lights in the test of the six lamps and the traditional halogen lamp color properties are different, and all the test objects in the beam angle is less than PAR36 halogen lamp narrow.
The amount of this round of testing selected sample of nearly six, this is because the LED PAR36 lamp is limited to a very professional market segmentation, is rare in the United States, so the market is very difficult to find such products, many manufacturers have no such products.
Overall, CALiPER display LED lighting products are increasingly close to or exceed their traditional lighting competitors. The efficiency of the first round of the CALiPER test LED lamp is only 19lm/W, when the ninth round reached 61lm/W.
In the fourteen round of tests, the performance of 11 LED 6 inch downlight is much higher than that of halogen lamp or incandescent lamp: 11 products in 10 in accordance with the energy star related color temperature and color rendering index of the standard, the efficacy is not less than CFL downlight lamp system. From the beginning of 2012, each summary report focused on a single product type or application. Capture the current state of the market from a cross section.
The United States Department of energy launched the CALiPER project in 2006 to support the use of industry-approved testing procedures for the representation of typical solid-state lighting products for general lighting. CALiPER support a wide range of product testing, these products for conventional lighting, the industry recognized testing procedures and the Internet and the public to share relevant information.
