Just in 2013 from SIEMENS (SIEMENS) split out of the LED lighting OSRAM (OSRAM) and a new action! According to Reuters, OSRAM plans to spin off or sell its lower profit general lighting business, and the establishment of an independent company, which helps OSRAM to focus more on the future of automotive lighting and LED components.
The OSRAM spin off business includes the traditional light bulb, ballast (Classic Lamps & Ballasts, CLB), and LED (LED Lamps and lighting systems department & Systems, LLS), the OSRAM business accounted for about 40% of revenue. According to Reuters, the business in fiscal year 2014 sales fell by about $15% to $1 billion 960 million, while the business of EBITDA (tax interest rate depreciation and amortization of profit before) was also lower than the average standard of 4.6%.
After the spin off OSRAM will retain its special lighting, automotive lighting, LED components, as well as Osram Opto products. At the same time, OSRAM also said that the future will not rule out seeking partners, this plan will be handed over to the company's Monitoring Committee in April 28th.
With the rise of the Asian LED lighting manufacturers, low-cost Asian manufacturers to become the dominant force in most European and American traditional lighting manufacturers should respond to changes in the lighting market. OSRAM's plan to split the lighting business, it can not help but think of its path similar to PHILPS, OSRAM will be the next step is also a cause for concern. (compile /LED net Carina)
