Patent analysis of Guangdong LED industry in the first half of 2013

LED industry as one of the three major breakthrough in Guangdong to speed up the development of strategic emerging industries in recent years, in the strong advocacy and support all levels of government in Guangdong Province, the rapid development has become the domestic industry's largest industrial agglomeration, the strongest, the most complete industrial chain area. However, due to the late start of the LED industry, the existence of weak technical foundation, patent risk and other prominent issues, has become an important bottleneck restricting the healthy and rapid development of the industry. How to get rid of the plight of Guangdong and even the whole country in the field of intellectual property rights of LED, which has the property right, high yield and low power has become a common concern of many enterprises.

First, the general situation of patent applications in Guangdong LED lighting industry

By the end of June 2013, Guangdong Province, LED lighting industry, a total of 43787 patents, accounting for LED of the lighting industry patent 26.29%, accounting for 3.90% of the total patent application in Guangdong province.

From the perspective of the structure of patent application, by the end of June 2013, Guangdong Province, LED lighting industry, 9684 patents, accounting for 22.12%; 24573 utility model patents, accounting for 56.12%; 9530 appearance design patents, accounting for 21.76%.

Two, the city of Guangdong LED lighting industry patent applications

From the geographical structure of the patent application, the nine cities in Guangdong Province Pearl River LED lighting patent applications accounted for about 93.42% of the total, the rest of the city accounted for only about $6.58%. Nine in the Pearl River Delta city, thousands of patented LED lighting has 7 items, namely Shenzhen, Dongguan, Guangzhou, Zhongshan, Foshan, Huizhou and Jiangmen, Shenzhen with 17373 patent applications ranked first in the province, accounting for nearly 40% of the province's total patent applications.
