# What is the difference between the 2835 light strip and the 5050 light strip?

LED light strip refers to the process of welding LED light beads onto copper wires or ribbon flexible circuit boards using special processing techniques, and then connecting them to a power source to emit light. It is named after its shape like a light strip when emitting light. When purchasing light strips, we often see some numbers, 5050 and 2835. So what do these numbers represent? I believe those who are new to this industry are not very clear.

2835 and 5050 actually refer to the type of LED bead, not the type of light strip, and LED light strip does not have a type. Widely used in outdoor bridges, modern home decoration, bars, buildings, etc., what are the differences between them?

1、 Power and current intensity

The application power of 5050 light strip is 12W and the driving current intensity is 60mA, while the application power of 2835 light strip is 10W and the driving current intensity is 20mA.

2、 Chip

The difference in internal bead chip size is actually between the 5050 and 2835 light strips. 5050 light strip indicates that the length of the light bead chip is 5.0mm and the width is 5.0mm. Similarly, 2835 light strip indicates that the length of the light bead is 3.5mm and the width is 2.8mm.

5050 is made based on market demand and 2835. The difference in appearance is that 5050 lamp beads are square and 2835 are rectangular. So, the 5050 circuit board is wider than 2835.

In terms of the number and luminous intensity of LED chips, the 5050 light strip chip has three LED chips, while the 2835 light strip only has one LED chip. Therefore, the luminous intensity of the 5050 light strip is higher than that of the 2835 light strip. Simply put, the 5050 light strip is brighter than the 2835 light strip.

3、 Function

The luminous intensity of LED light strips mainly depends on the chip of the light bead and the size of the current. Due to the different chips used for the beads of the two lamp strips, the beads of the 5050 lamp strip are larger than those of the 2835 lamp strip and the chip material is relatively good, so the luminous capacity of the 5050 lamp strip is stronger.

4、 Spectral brightness

Due to the use of three lamp beads, the spectral intensity of the 5050 strip is higher than that of the 2835 strip. In terms of numerical values, the spectral intensity of the 5050 strip is 4500-5500-6500, while the spectral intensity of the 2835 strip is 2000-2400-2800.

Overall, the 5050 light strip has been developed on the basis of the 2835 light strip. In terms of functionality, the 5050 light strip has better functions and higher brightness than the 2835 light strip.
