LED epitaxial silicon substrate technology has made a breakthrough, Jingneng Optoelectronics plans to set up a factory in the United States

Jingneng Optoelectronics announced on July 1 that it has achieved leadership in LED epitaxial silicon substrate technology, which will significantly reduce LED production costs.
The substrate is the basis of LED semiconductor lighting. Sapphire and silicon carbide are currently the most commonly used substrate materials. The choice of silicon is mainly based on cost considerations. Although the cost of silicon material is much lower than that of sapphire, it also has problems with poor production yield and serious light absorption.
Lattice Power is one of the early investors in the development of silicon substrates. The Wall Street Journal reported that Jingneng Optoelectronics CEO Sonny Wu said that Jingneng Optoelectronics has overcome the mass production problems of silicon substrates ahead of US, Korean and German companies.
Wu Shenjun pointed out that the price of Jingneng Optoelectronics products is 30% lower than that of major international manufacturers such as CREE, but it can still maintain a gross profit margin of 40%. Jingneng Optoelectronics’ revenue last year was about US$33 million, and he expects it to double this year.
According to reports, Jingneng Optoelectronics has completed raising US$80 million and obtained a US$1 billion bank credit line. In addition to expanding production capacity, it also plans to set up factories and open R&D centers in the United States.
