Allegro launches A6282/A6285 16 channel LED driver for display applications IC

Allegro announced the launch of two new LED driver IC for display panels, signs and control panel. A6282 and A6285 have 16 constant current output channels. They all have serial data input and output that can be cascaded to provide large screen, pixel level text or video display. These two products can also be used for a number of small applications, such as: for the device or control panel provides LCD backlighting or control LED.

A6282 and A6285 run LED supply voltage up to 12V, allowing each channel to stack up to three or more LED. Logic circuit supply voltage range of 3.3 V to 5 V, when the power supply to the LED is usually allowed to use the same power supply to the device. The user can adjust the output of the pulse width modulation input, adjust the brightness of the two devices controlled by the LED. Two devices are under voltage lockout (UVLO) and thermal shutdown protection functions. Devices can be selected using surface mount package.

A6282 is an entry-level 16 channel driver. Each output current up to 50 mA. The output current matching rate between channels is very high, reaching + 3%, ensuring high quality display, and improving the matching rate of other standby power supply.

A6285 has other additional features that can be applied to video applications. Through the point correction function, the user can adjust the output current of each channel to prevent the initial device mismatch and LED aging. Internal pull up to quickly close, remove the ghosting image and improve the quality of the image when moving images. The A6285 output is interleaved to minimize EMI radiation and power line noise. A6285 has an open circuit LED detection feature that allows remote diagnosis of faulty LED.

A6282 uses 24 pin surface mount package: QFN, SOIC and TSSOP. A6285 uses 32 pin QFN package. Two devices using a variety of packaged samples are now available.
