Wi-Fi speed suck? LED lighting can be expanded 10 times bandwidth

Tencent digital hearing, Wi-Fi network is now ubiquitous, but many public places, but it is difficult to satisfy the speed of Wi-Fi. However, this situation may soon change: Recently, researchers have claimed that they can use LED lighting technology to expand the bandwidth of 10 times Wi-Fi.

It is reported that this new technology named WiFO, developed by researchers at the Oregon State University. WiFO use of LED's ability to generate invisible spectrum lighting, which is used for data transmission. The current WiFO prototype system looks like an ordinary LED ceiling lamp, but the researchers said that each device connected to the WiFO can get 50-100GB data transfer rate.

The data transmission speed of the existing Wi-Fi system is divided according to the number of connected devices. For example, if there are 10 100Mbps Wi-Fi device access, the maximum speed that each device can get only 10Mbps. The researchers said that WiFO can increase the bandwidth of each user by 10 times, to solve this problem.

In addition to faster transmission, WiFO system can also be integrated with existing Wi-Fi systems, while the cost is very low. Currently, the research team has access to the relevant patents, and is looking for business partners and sponsors.
