2012, the Ministry of economic affairs in Taiwan will prohibit the use of new road mercury lamps, so that the estimated 7 years can be replaced by a total of Taiwan, a total of 800 thousand mercury lamps, the overall business is expected to reach NT $8 billion 600 million.
The Ministry of economic affairs pointed out that in 2015 the price of each street lamp can be reduced to NT $7000, which is considered the result of market expansion and technological upgrading. Ministry of finance estimated 800 thousand street lamps for the subsidy costs about NT $18 billion, will also require LED street vendors by energy-saving performance guaranteed service mechanisms to reduce the financial burden of the government.
At this stage, each lamp mercury lamp price is about NT $3000, but the power consumption is high, there are pollution problems, a comprehensive facelift LED street lamp is necessary, the local government through subsidies to replace and expand domestic demand are expected by the end of 2011, the number of replacement out of about 24 thousand lights.
The future will further amend the law, all new roads in Taiwan prohibit the use of mercury street lamps, which is beneficial to LED street lights and related industries.
