In the third quarter of 2022, Mini LED backlight shipments reached 5.1 million pieces, a quarterly increase of 30% and an annual increase of 158%.

Industry insiders said that Mini LED backlight LCD technology shows that LCD technology is continuing to be updated and upgraded. It is comparable to OLED in terms of picture quality but more cost-effective. Regarding the polarizers required for high-end Mini LED products, Shanjin Optoelectronics, the largest polarizer manufacturer in China, stated that it has developed a variety of adaptable polarizer products such as ultra-low reflection and wide viewing angle to help continuously innovate and upgrade LCD display technology.
Currently, Apple products continue to dominate Mini LED shipments. DSCC data shows that iPad shipments were 1.4 million units and MacBook shipments were 2 million units. Apple's Mini LED shipments account for more than 70% of the total Mini LED products. In addition, in fields such as VR consumer equipment, Mini LED backlight panels have already been launched.
DSCC predicts that notebooks will be the main driving force for Mini LED growth in the past five years, and Mini LED panel shipments for all applications will reach 37 million units in 2026. At the same time, Samsung, LG and major Chinese TV brands continue to bring Mini LED TVs to the market, which will push TV to become the largest application for Mini LED shipments after 2026.
