The use of domestic MOCVD equipment manufacturing the blue LED chip light emitting power reach 8.3mW at 20mA driving current, reached the international advanced level, the domestic 48 MOCVD Machine Design Institute of semiconductors has completed assembly equipment, has entered the commissioning phase. The HVPE device is likely to become the core of future semiconductor lighting equipment, is currently being actively developed. In addition, the Institute of semiconductors, where the deep UV LED, vertical structure LED chips, nano graphics substrates have made significant progress. Especially in the field of deep UV LED, not only can be used in the field of lighting, but also has a great development in the field of biology, the use of deep UV LED sterilization rate of bacteria reached more than 90%. However, Lee also mentioned that at present our country still faces many problems and challenges in the field of LED lighting: R & D investment is not enough, the strength of the scattered resources can not be shared and the low level of construction, etc..

And LED as no stroboscopic, no UV radiation, no electromagnetic radiation, low heat radiation and other characteristics, making it a true healthy light source. At the same time, LED has the advantages of multi color, intelligent, can achieve different lighting applications, very suitable for indoor lighting needs.

Deputy secretary general national semiconductor lighting industry alliance Ruan Jun pointed out that in 2010 the overall size of China's LED industry has reached 120 billion yuan, the next 5 years will grow to more than 30% compound growth rate, is expected to 2015, our LED industry will reach 500 billion yuan. But at present our country LED enterprise scale is small and scattered, the industry is big but not strong. Therefore, it is necessary to coordinate from the national level, to increase investment in key areas to face competition from the international.

Taiwan EPISTAR Wang Xiwei share about the development of LED in the field of general lighting, backlighting trends point of view. He believes that the current LED industry in the field of LED backlight has accumulated more experience on how to improve performance, reduce costs and other areas of experience. As for the arrival of the era of solid-state lighting, for LED, the challenge is not just in the lm/W (light efficiency), but also depends on the lm/$(cost), when the cost of 500lm/$, will start LED lighting explosive growth. Based on the current LED industry investment and technology development, this time node is expected to achieve in 2012-2013.
