LED energy-saving lamps into a back lighting enterprises to open the green revolution

Following the phasing out of incandescent roadmap, the process of restricting the gradual tightening of energy-saving lamps.

Recently, the Ministry of science and technology, Ministry of environmental protection jointly issued the "Chinese gradually reduce the mercury content of fluorescent roadmap" put forward by the end of this year, the elimination of compact liquid mercury type fluorescent lamp production process, before the end of 2014, and strive to the production process of phasing out liquid mercury. By 2015, the mercury content of a single fluorescent lamp was reduced by 80%.

Almost at the same time, the national development and Reform Commission and other six ministries have also introduced the semiconductor lighting industry planning, proposed in 2015 LED functional lighting products market share of more than 20%, industrial output value of $180 billion.

One into a retreat, to strengthen the constraints and increase the promotion of lighting products is expected to accelerate the green revolution represented by LED. In order to meet the requirements of the road map, Guangdong about 70% lighting companies need to adjust or modify the process of fluorescent lamps, many companies have revealed the future will be the main or increase the intention to promote LED.

The global mercury convention forced low mercury fluorescent lamp

Compared with the traditional incandescent lamp, compact fluorescent lamp (commonly known as energy-saving lamps) with its energy saving, has been the main product of our country to promote green lighting. However, due to its lack of recycling channels, lack of processing capacity, of which mercury pollution has been widely criticized by experts and environmentalists.

At the beginning of this year, more than and 140 countries around the world including Chinese, after more than 4 years of negotiations, finally reached the "Minamata Convention" the prevention and control of mercury, Mercury will monitor and limit the production and trade in the global scope. This legally binding global mercury instruments, as mercury production and emissions of China, its pollution control will undoubtedly face enormous challenges. Waste energy-saving lamps and mercury pollution hazards have been few constraints, is also facing the change from industrial sources purge.

According to the "China gradually reduce the mercury content of fluorescent roadmap", China cut mercury fluorescent lamp to be divided into two steps: first, to eliminate the liquid mercury process, before the end of this year, the elimination of compact liquid mercury type fluorescent lamp production process, before the end of 2014, and strive to the production process of phasing out liquid mercury.

Followed by the domestic production, power is not more than 60 watts of general lighting fluorescent lamp, in the 3 phase of the gradual reduction of its mercury content, and strive to achieve more than 50% of the mercury content of the product does not exceed the same period target value. The goal is to the end of 2014, through the elimination process of liquid mercury, mercury emissions in the production process is reduced by half than in 2010; by 2015, the single fluorescent products average mercury content of about 80% less than in 2010, more than half of the fluorescent lamp mercury content of less than 1 mg.

China's Mercury limit is currently only 11% of the level of mercury in Europe and the United States strictly

Statistics show that China is a major exporter of fluorescent lamps. In 2011, the output of about 7 billion, of which compact fluorescent lamps (commonly known as energy-saving lamps) about 4 billion 700 million, accounting for more than 80% of global output, the annual export of only 2 billion 800 million. According to China's 2008 release of the industry standard "lighting electrical products in the limited amount of toxic and harmful substances," compact fluorescent mercury content of not more than 5 mg, straight type is not more than 10 mg. Fluorescent lamp industry consumes a lot of mercury. And 1 mg of mercury into the ground, will pollute about 360 tons of water and surrounding soil.

There have been estimates of the subject, a fluorescent lamp to achieve safe recovery, the cost is 17 yuan. This is clearly unsustainable. From the source to reduce mercury content, to avoid pollution after the old governance.

As a target market for fluorescent lamps, developed economies such as Europe and the United States have proposed to reduce the mercury content of fluorescent lamps. The EU directive issued in 2010, from 2013 onwards the compact fluorescent lamp (less than 30 watts of power) mercury content shall not exceed 2.5 mg, the relevant industry standards for compact fluorescent lamps less than 25 watts of not more than 4 mg of requirements.

Relatively speaking, the road map requires 30 watts or less than the mercury content of less than 1.5 mg at the end of this year, more than 30 watts less than 2.5 mg. By the end of 2014, the above limit was reduced to 1 and 1.5 mg, by the end of 2015, further contraction to 0.8 and 1 mg. In other words, the national energy-saving lamps containing mercury requirements, more stringent than the current standards in Europe and america.

At present, China has developed a successful mercury containing no more than 0.5 mg of compact fluorescent lamps; mercury containing no more than 1.5 mg of compact fluorescent lamp has grown rapidly, has accounted for about 30% of total output.

And in 2012 of the country a total of 80 batches of energy-saving lamp checks showed that more than 90% of the energy-saving lamp mercury content of less than 2 mg, to achieve "low mercury" level; even 11% energy-saving lamps can meet the mercury content limit of 1 mg, achieve "micro mercury level".
