According to the Pakistan Daily Times reported on May 18th, due to the serious shortage of electricity in Pakistan, Pakistan costs about $2 billion 300 million per year (about 14 billion 269 million yuan) for candles and other lighting products. World Bank Group member International Finance Corporation (IFC) launched the Pakistan project (Lighting Pakistan Programme), plans to provide solar lighting to 1 million 500 thousand people by 2018.
IFC report recommends solar power producers to enter Pakistan. The market is huge and has not yet been developed, only 4% of households use solar power, the market value of more than $1 billion (about 6 billion 20 million yuan). To provide high quality, low price solar power plant manufacturers, Pakistan has great opportunities for development, especially for those who come first. For example, after the 2007 launch of the IFC lighting program in Afghanistan, the annual growth rate of 300% of its solar lighting market, providing solar lighting for each of the 7 million 700 thousand people.
At present, the main problems include the lack of consumer awareness of the Palestinian population, the supply chain is limited, the most important is the lack of spending power, because of the high price of solar power plants. Pakistan lighting project will address these issues.
