Hongkong implementation of voluntary LED lamp energy efficiency labeling system

Recently, reporters learned that the Hongkong electrical and Mechanical Engineering Department since June 14, 2011, has been "voluntary energy efficiency labelling scheme extended to cover the light-emitting diode lamp (LED lamp).

Manufacturers, importers and local agents are invited to participate in the energy efficiency labelling scheme for LED lamps. The participating agencies may affix "confirmation" labels to products that meet the energy efficiency and performance requirements of the plan. The labeling program is designed to help consumers understand the importance of using energy efficient products and encourage manufacturers and suppliers to introduce more energy-efficient products to save energy. At the same time, consumers can identify whether the product has reached the designated energy efficiency requirements, in order to choose products.
