GE research and development of new fluorescent powder, can enhance the quality of LED display products

General Electric (GE) announced on July 25th, the company achieved a significant improvement in mobile phones, tablet PCs and televisions and other LED devices to display the image of the color and clarity of research breakthroughs. GE lighting (GE Lighting) and general electric global R & D Center (GE Global Research) scientists developed a phosphor, the phosphor package within the LED, can enhance the image quality of LED electronic products to new heights.

GE's patented solutions include adding manganese potassium fluoride (PFS) as a red line emitter to the LED device. Compared with the top nitride phosphor, the PFS phosphor can be used in the LED system to produce a clearer, cleaner and more real micro red color, thus reducing the color overflow, resulting in richer color images.

Anant, a materials scientist and head of the fluorescent powder business at Setlur, a global research and development center, said: "the backlight consists of a row of LED embedded in a wave guide to filter out red, green and blue. In most of the equipment on the market today, the quality of the red components in the LED are poor, resulting in green looks yellow; this has a negative impact on the overall image quality. Our technology enables consumer electronics to produce more natural color. The difference in image quality is amazing. "

GE Ventures has technology patents to Sharp Co (Sharp Corporation) and Nichia (Nichia Corporation), the two companies will be produced and packaged with PFS phosphor materials LED, the LED is used as the LCD display LED backlight product. In fact, a number of display companies have recently launched a tablet computer and smart phones containing these two authorized manufacturers supply LED equipment.
