In May 30th, General Electric (GE) released the next generation LED lighting system, allowing retailers to save costs, no need to buy a separate base station from other companies. Prior to this, many retailers began deploying apple iBeacons technology, but these retailers usually have to buy an independent Bluetooth base station or the use of iPad terminal as a base station.
Currently, WAL-MART has announced that it will deploy support iBeacons technology lighting system. WAL-MART plans to open GE's new lighting system in all of the world's stores.
WAL-MART has not announced will push through iBeacons what kind of news, but the general electric lighting system can play a complete iBeacons function, including push coupons, promotions, product information and store map.
ByteLight, the company that provides Bluetooth chips for GE, recently announced that the replacement of the top of the LED roof in the United States can save up to 340 thousand KW of electricity per retail store, saving $34 thousand a year. ByteLight chip can use the lighting system power supply, life of 15 years. Independent iBeacons base stations need to be replaced every two years.
