Notebook computers are very common nowadays, and they are eliminated every year. According to statistics, the world each year with the abandoned lithium-ion laptop battery is about 50 million or so, for the ecological environment is undoubtedly a major threat. Recently, however, researchers at IBM have discovered a new use of waste laptop batteries for home lighting.
Waste laptop battery can supply power for 1 years (LED from Gizmodo)
The researchers found that 70% of the waste laptop batteries are sufficient to supply power for LED lamps. They take apart the old batteries, take out the batteries that can still be used, and then use the extra batteries to make a complete battery pack. If the power supply for the LED lamp is 4 hours a day, these batteries can provide a service life of 1 years.
In the initial tests, the researchers provided the 5 residents in India, Bangalore, with a battery pack that would be used to light the roads in slums or sidewalks. The test was a success, and the upgraded version of the battery is now being tested.
