DOE released GATEWAY report on road lighting

The U.S. Energy Agency released the first report on the GATEWAY of a residential area in the Midwest of Portland. The road is named NE Cully Boulevard, the installation of 6 different types of street lights, respectively, three LED lights, an induction lamp, a ceramic metal halide lamp, as well as a high-pressure sodium lamp, high-pressure sodium lamp is the baseline. Important results are as follows:

1, the performance of the product is not uniform, but compared with the replacement of high-pressure sodium lamp, the replacement lamp usually has a higher energy efficiency, more reasonable distribution of light and light color is better.

Fig. six light distribution of lamps

A: PHILPS (LED)

B:GE (induction lamp)

C:Cooper (LED)

D:GE (LED)

E: PHILPS (ceramic metal halide lamp)

F:GE (high pressure sodium lamp)

2, some replacement lamps can not guarantee the lanes, bicycle lanes and sidewalks with adequate lighting, light attenuation problems may even lead to the product does not comply with the design standards.

3, due to the small size of the demonstration project, the number of purchase lamps is not much, so the calculated shortest payback period for 17.3 years (Cooper, LED), calculated in accordance with the conventional bulk purchase price, to shorten the payback period of 10 years.

The lamp installed, 4 demonstration projects are equipped with network control system, with a record to get electricity and field measurement submitted by the manufacturers expected consumption and electricity consumption comparison, found that most of the expected value of highly consistent, but one of LED lights is obviously low, low consumption is certainly a good thing electricity, but the report accuracy is more important. Tariff and rated power of public utilities.
