The U.S. Department of energy (DOE) recently announced a grant of $10 million (equivalent to about 61 million 220 thousand yuan), to support solid-state lighting (SSL) technology (including LED and OLED) R & D and manufacturing.
DOE said that the average efficiency of existing LED technology is 150 lumens per watt, hoping to improve the LED light efficiency of 75%, reaching the target value of 250 lumens per watt.
In the past ten years, DOE has accelerated the deployment of SSL technology and obvious gains, in 2013 the United States to save energy costs about $1 billion 800 million (equivalent to about RMB 11 billion 20 million yuan). It is estimated that by 2030 the United States each year to save energy costs up to $26 billion (equivalent to about 159 billion 175 million yuan).
The project funds support the following three areas:
Core technology research - to promote the application of research and development of technology, emphasizing light efficiency, performance and cost objectives;
Product development - development and improvement of commercially available SSL materials, equipment or systems;
Made in the United States - to accelerate the adoption of SSL technology through innovation and improvement in the manufacturing sector, while reducing costs while improving quality and stability.
