DOE SSL project to give more funds to support LED and OLED

U.S. Department of energy will provide the latest funding to the fourth round of SSL manufacturing plans to support the United States to develop LED and OLED manufacturing. The U.S. Department of energy (DOE) will provide $11 million solid state lighting (SSL) Program Fund to support existing manufacturing research and development. If the project is successful, it will help to achieve the goal of the plan - making the United States to become the world leader in SSL manufacturing.

This is the fourth round of SSL manufacturing plan, the third round of June 2012 announced plans to fund companies including Cree, KLA Tencor and k-Space Associates. Part of the production of the SSL program was updated by the SSL manufacturing roadmap in August of this year.

Through this funding (DE-FOA-0000792), the U.S. Department of energy hopes SSL manufacturing research and development projects can significantly improve the cost of production equipment, processes or monitoring technology. The U.S. Department of energy said that these funding activities can accelerate the creation of a United States led market, providing efficient light source, saving energy, lower cost, less environmental impact than traditional light sources. "

DOE will select 6 projects in the following areas:

LED lamp / module manufacturing;

LED test and test equipment;

OLED deposition equipment and OLED material production.

The deadline for application is February 21, 2013. For specific application details, please visit the U.S. Department of energy efficiency and renewable energy website.
