Color rendering index CRI or into the past new color standards will debut

On 2014, solid state lighting ecological system (SSL Ecosystem Summit) summit has ended.

According to foreign media reports, industry experts attended the summit pointed out that the color index (CRI) are often used to define LED light color quality, but it is not perfect in color perception measurement, will soon be replaced by other color measurement standard.

American Lighting Association (ALA) technical director Terry McGowan pointed out that CRI is not enough to represent color perception. He said that as early as August, the Illuminating Engineering Society (IES) has proposed to the government to stop using CRI to define energy regulations. CRI is likely to be replaced by the combination of the color quality standard (CGS) and the color gamut area index (GAI).

N.Nanrandran, director of the lighting research center at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, said the University's law change assistance program (LRC ASSIST Program) is combining CGS and GAI, and will soon replace CRI.
