Chongqing issues manufacturing development action plan, Mini/Micro LED is mentioned

Recently, the General Office of the Chongqing Municipal Party Committee and the General Office of the Chongqing Municipal Government issued the "Action Plan for Deeply Promoting the High-Quality Development of Chongqing's Manufacturing Industry in the New Era and New Journey (2023-2027)" (hereinafter referred to as the "Plan").

The "Plan" proposes to accelerate the construction of a modern manufacturing cluster system, including focusing on building leading industrial clusters, upgrading and building pillar industrial clusters, innovating and creating characteristic and advantageous industrial clusters, cultivating and strengthening "new star" industrial clusters, and in-depth implementation of special actions for the high-quality development of the manufacturing industry.

Concentrate efforts to build the leading industrial cluster part. In terms of the new generation of electronic information manufacturing, we will guide brand owners and complete machine manufacturing companies to increase the layout of mid-to-high-end computers and smartphones in Chongqing, and optimize and strengthen these two landmark products. Strengthen the cultivation of new intelligent terminal products such as service robots, servers, Internet of Things equipment, smart homes, and smart wearables, and enrich electronic terminal categories.

Implement a number of landmark projects such as compound semiconductors, automotive-grade chips, and flexible panels to enhance core competitiveness in the fields of specialty integrated circuits and new displays. Accelerate the development of electronic components such as printed circuit boards, sensors, and passive components, and build a more complete supporting system for electronic components.

Innovate to create a characteristic and advantageous industrial cluster part, and promote the release of existing panel production capacity in terms of new displays. Accelerate the demonstration and implementation of MiniLED (sub-millimeter light-emitting diode) panel/Micro LED (micron-level light-emitting diode) panel projects to build the first-mover advantage of the next generation of flat panel displays. Taking the panel as the lead, we will drive the coordinated development of upstream optical materials, glass substrates, and downstream display modules and display devices. Strengthen the introduction and education of ultra-high-definition video and content companies and promote the integrated development of "hardware + content".

In terms of cultivating and strengthening "new star" industrial clusters, the "Plan" also involves the development of the metaverse, proposing to strengthen the research and development of human-computer interaction, advanced computing and other technologies, accelerate the development of interactive terminal products, break through the bottleneck of human-computer interaction, and enhance the human-computer interaction experience. Strengthen the research and development of digital tools such as three-dimensional graphics and image engines, digital modeling, and digital design, cultivate and protect IP, and prosper digital content. Explore the application scenarios of interactive technology in industry, commerce, cultural tourism, medical and other fields, and cultivate industry-level solutions.
