"Biohackers" have a new trend: implanting LED lights into human skin

Soso LED Network News: It is a creepy fashion to implant LED lights into human skin. In the past, I heard that there are many ways to modify the body, such as ear piercing and tattoos, which have gradually become rare and common. However, with the advancement of science and technology, biohacking has gradually emerged and developed. Biohacking refers to "the experimental exploration of genetic material without violating ethical standards or legal regulations."

Implanting LED lights at the bottom of human skin has become the latest trend among biohackers, as shown in the picture above. The act was carried out by body hacking group Grindhouse Wetware, which successfully implanted a piece of magnetically activated LED silicone into human skin.

Codenamed Northstar V1, the implant is about the size of a large coin and can be used as a backlight for tattoos or to simulate bioluminescence, and we're not sure how many people will want to have it implanted in the future. Once a magnet approaches, the LED light will be activated and will flash for ten seconds before entering sleep mode.

In terms of battery life, the creator estimates that Northstar V1 can flash 10,000 times. If the user uses it once a day, it can be used for up to 27 years (not considering the natural loss of the battery). At the end of its useful life, it is surgically removed.

Asked about the reasons for creating the device, Grindhouse Wetcare co-founder Tim Cannon said, "The biohacker community needed it. They had contacted us and said they wanted their tattoos to glow. That's why we created this implant, and it's these people who inspired us."

Whether it is implanting a subway IC card or a mobile phone cracker in the palm of one's hand, it is very practical. So what is the use of implanting LED lights into the body? Biohackers say they just want their tattoos to shine.

By accident, the concept of "cyborg" in science fiction movies really appeared in reality. This future is really a bit scary.
