With an investment of 2.65 billion, Zhejiang's photonic device project with an annual output of 100 million units is completed

On April 8, the Zhaoming Semiconductor project with a total investment of 2.65 billion yuan to produce 100 million photonic devices per year was officially launched in Pujiang Economic Development Zone, Zhejiang, and an order signing conference was held at the same time.

This production line is positioned in compound semiconductor wafer manufacturing, building a complete independent process system from epitaxial growth, photolithography patterning, etching and molding to testing and verification.

The technical team has achieved a number of process breakthroughs in the direction of high-speed optical communication chips and silicon photonics integration. The production line is designed to have an annual production capacity of 100 million photonic devices. Through full automation and deep digital transformation, precise control of nano-level process parameters is achieved, which can effectively respond to the exponential growth in demand for high-speed optical modules during the evolution from 5G to 6G and the construction of ultra-large-scale data centers.

At the connection ceremony, Zhaoming Semiconductor signed supply agreements with six customers covering domestic and foreign markets, including Zhongbei Optoelectronics and South Korea's ZEUSIN, and established strategic cooperative relationships with core suppliers and financial institutions.

Zhaoming Semiconductor will focus on photonic integrated chip design, research and development, manufacturing and sales in 2021. As early as 2022, Zhaoming Semiconductor cooperated with Zhejiang University to build the country's first silicon nitride photonic chip pilot line to achieve large-scale mass production of photonic chips and biological detection chips.

The company's product line covers a variety of optical chip types such as CWDM, LAN WDM, and DWDM, and its application scenarios extend to cutting-edge fields such as optical fiber communications, artificial intelligence computing infrastructure, lidar, Internet of Things, and biomedicine.

With the smooth completion of the Pujiang project, Zhaoming Semiconductor’s supply capacity in the photonic chip market will be further enhanced in the future.
