The first working meeting of the LED display international standards group: a big discussion on LED display standards

Focus 1: Internationalization of standards

Standards need to be discussed and tested in practice!

On March 19, in accordance with the international and domestic situation and urgent requirements for international standards, the National Standards Committee expert group, led by Zhao Ying, Secretary General of the National Flat Panel Display Standardization Technical Committee, made a special trip to Shenzhen to convene the first working meeting of the "LED Display International Standards Group (Preparation)".

The meeting discussed how to carry out work related to international standards and deployed the next step of work.

Focus 2: Cross-border integration of standards

On March 25, the "LED Display Terms and Definitions" group standard led by the China Optics and Optoelectronics Industry Association (hereinafter referred to as the China Optoelectronics Association) made necessary preparations for the national standard "LED Display Terms and Definitions".

The standards seminar is held online.

With the rapid development of LED display technology and the rapid expansion of industry scale, hot spots for technological innovation in the industry are emerging one after another. In particular, LED displays are rapidly developing from the era of small spacing to Mini/Micro LED displays. The trend of multi-industry integration is obvious, and the industry is in urgent need of corresponding standards. In order to promote the healthy and standardized development of the LED display industry, after research and decision by relevant departments, China Optics The Optoelectronics Industry Association took the lead in formulating the "LED Display Terms and Definitions" standard. This time, the Standardization Committee of the LED Display Application Branch of the China Optical Industry Association was responsible for drafting a total of 111 terms and definitions related to LED displays, and convened relevant industry experts and business representatives to solicit opinions and suggestions. Hu Chunming, deputy secretary-general of the LCD Branch of China Optical Industry Association, and Liu Yuqing, deputy secretary-general of the LED Device Branch, also attended the standard review of "LED Display Terms and Definitions".

The China Optical Industry Association is responsible for convening experts in relevant fields of the industry, including China Electronics Standardization Institute, China Institute of Metrology, Sansi, Lopu, Unilumin, Lehman, Leyard, Jinlixiang, Alto, Xida, Qingsong, Lianjian, Guangxiang, Chuangxian, AET, Zhongqi, Corrente, Lamp Video, Shanghai Hongguang, Wei Qiaoshun , Huanyu Rambo, Xinyasheng, Xinguangxin, Nationstar, Jufei, Zhaochi, Hongli, Ruifeng, Mulinsen, LEDVance, Sanan, Huacan, Qianzhao, Silanwei, Jingtai, Xinguangtai, Keying, Huawei, BOE, TCL, Xiaomi, Hisense, Skyworth, Konka, Changhong, Hikvision, Dahua, Vitron, GQY, CVTE, Uniview, Qiang Lijucai, Absen, Chitron North, Suzhou Riyuecheng, Nova, Yangbang, Lingxingyu, Colorlight, Kaistar, Mapstar, Xinyichang, Tongyuan, Jingneng Optoelectronics, Sembcon Nano, Precision Test, Dashi, Color Space, Zhiling Technology, Guangzhou Saixi, Nanjing 55 and other units and related practitioners and well-known industry experts Peng Wanhua, Li Xilin, Secretary General Cao Lixin of the Engineering Contractors Alliance and many other people participated.

Focus 3: New technologies, new markets, new terms, new definitions

With the advent of the Mini/Micro era, the meeting focused on the "LED Display Terms and Definitions" (draft), which included 111 LED display-related terms and definitions in 7 categories, including LED display composition, LED packaging methods, LED display types, and subjective and objective evaluation of performance. At the meeting, international standards committee members, national standard committee members, industry experts, and representatives of various companies actively participated in the discussion of focus and hot terminology, especially terms and definitions such as COB, Mini/Micro LED, full-size, flip-chip, and mixed COB. The representatives spoke and actively made suggestions, and proposed to add new terms and definitions such as transparent screens, LED transparent displays, and vehicle-mounted mobile LED displays.

Focus 4: The group standard first prepares a "reservoir" for national standards and international standards

On February 2, the Secretariat of the China Optics and Optoelectronics Industry Association organized a group standards review meeting through video conference. The standards of the groups participating in the review include:

"General Technical Specifications for Indoor COB Small/Fine Pitch LED Displays"

"General Technical Requirements for Asynchronous Grayscale LED Display Controllers (Cards)"

"General Technical Requirements for Indoor LED Cloud Screen P2.5/P1.9"

"Series Spectrum of Light-emitting Diode Surface Mount Products (SMD) for Indoor Small Pitch Mini Full Color LED Displays"

"General Technical Specifications for Indoor LED All-in-one Machines"

"General Technical Requirements for Asynchronous LED Display Players"

"LED Displays Around the Stadium"

"Technical Specifications for Indoor Small Pitch/Mini LED Displays"

"LED Display Terms and Definitions"

On January 14, 2019, the two display standards "Indoor Small Pitch LED Display" and "LED Display Energy Efficiency Test Method" released by the China Optics and Optoelectronics Industry Association won the honorary certificate of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology's 2018 Hundreds of Group Standard Application Demonstration Projects.

Secretary-General Zhao Ying of the National Technical Committee for Standardization of Flat Panel Display Devices: The group standard will first prepare the necessary "reservoir" for national and international standards.

Focus 5: Do a good job in carbon peaking and carbon neutral standardization

On September 22, 2020, General Secretary Xi Jinping declared to the world that "the Paris Agreement on climate change represents the general direction of the global green and low-carbon transformation and is the minimum action needed to protect our planet, and all countries must take decisive steps. China will increase its nationally determined contributions and adopt more powerful policies and Measures should be taken to strive to peak carbon dioxide emissions before 2030 and strive to achieve carbon neutrality before 2060. "Countries should establish new development concepts of innovation, coordination, green, openness and sharing, seize the historic opportunities of a new round of technological revolution and industrial transformation, promote the "green recovery" of the world economy after the epidemic, and gather strong synergy for sustainable development.

The proposal of the "One Belt, One Road" initiative is China's attempt to become a passive recipient and participant of world rules and standards in the face of the trend of regional economic integration in the world. An active choice for participants to transform into active advocates and makers. The construction of standards harmonization will play an important role in promoting policy communication, reducing trade and investment obstacles and barriers, and promoting regional trade and investment facilitation. Actively leveraging our leading advantage in new display, a high-tech strategic emerging energy-saving industry and standards, China Optics and Optoelectronics Industry Association will continue to participate in the formulation and benchmarking of international standards, regional standards and related national standards.
