LED figures at the Chengdu Universiade

On July 28, the 31st Summer Universiade opened in Chengdu. From July 28 to August 8, a total of 49 competition training venues will be set up for this Universiade, including 13 new venues such as Dong'an Lake Sports Park and Phoenix Mountain Sports Park. At present, the competition in different competition events is fiercely unfolding.

Not only the exciting events, the opening ceremony of the Universiade and visual effects solutions such as display screens and lighting inside and outside the competition venues are also the focus of attention from all walks of life. During the opening ceremony, the LED display screen played the role of spreading culture and demonstrating technological and artistic strength; during the competition, the LED display screen was the main media for real-time event broadcasting. Lighting and display are inseparable. In addition to functionality, lighting fixtures are also given more expectations such as personalized interaction and scene experience. In general, LED displays and LED lighting have become an indispensable and important part of sports events.

At the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and Paralympics, the integration of LED display and lighting solutions has given global audiences an extremely immersive visual feast. This year’s Chengdu Universiade is not far behind.

At the opening ceremony, the Sun Bird ignition disk jointly lit by 31 torchbearers shone brightly, spiraled upward, and ignited the aerial fireworks that symbolized the 12 golden rays of the Sun Bird. The fireworks were passed, the bird spread its wings, and finally ignited the torch tower outside the venue. The LED creative light display products combine modern technological stage design and various artistic methods to comprehensively present the historical heritage and vitality of the times in Chengdu, presenting to the world an international sports event with Chinese characteristics, the flavor of the times, and youthful style.

It is understood that Leyard is responsible for all-round visual effects such as LED display, projection, and stage design for the entire opening ceremony. Among them, the circular screen with sliding rails at the top of the opening ceremony adopts Leyard's newly developed outdoor transparent soft screen. The screen body is thin and transparent, and adopts dual power signal backup technology to display national flags and national standards of various countries. The circular screen on the ground uses Leyard's fully customized display screen, which is the core lifting device of the opening ceremony of the Universiade. It helps the Sun Bird to carry the light of the ancient Shu civilization spanning 3,000 years and "rush" to the modern sports event.

In the competition venues, Unilumin Technology provides over 2,500 square meters of LED displays, lighting products and integrated solutions for 13 training, warm-up, competition and supporting venues. For example, the Phoenix Mountain Stadium uses a 994-square-meter Unilumin LED ring screen, a central large bucket screen and other screens to meet the needs of top events such as basketball and ice hockey.
