Google’s first AR glasses may be on sale within the year

According to news on May 19, TMTpost quoted "people close to Google" as saying that Google's first AR glasses will be released at this week's I/O conference. Similar to its previous cooperation with Samsung on MR, this time it is also developed in cooperation with a head AR manufacturer, using the BirdBath solution and running the Android XR system. It is expected to be officially launched for sale in the second half of this year at the earliest.

The 2025 Google I/O Developer Conference is scheduled to be held at 1 am on May 21, Beijing time. The last Google I/O opened on May 14, 2024. At the meeting, Google released a number of important updates, including new Gemini AI functions and models, Project AstraAI assistant, Veo generative AI video model, and a major AI change for Google search.

Google I/O 2025 is a developer-focused event covering several different categories, including AI, cloud computing, web and Android. In the past, Google has announced new hardware at its I/O keynote, but it didn't release any new products last year.
