Fairchild announced the design for space constrained mobile and ultra portable products, the introduction of ultra small boost converter solution FAN5665. This is the 5V/30mA adaptive charge pump boost converter with high efficiency, thin and compact 1.21mm X 1.21mm WL-CSP package, compared with alternative solutions can save more than 20% of the circuit board space. For products with USB features that require 5V I/O rail output, Fairchild's FAN5665 can provide an ideal solution for fast convergence. The FAN5665 can also be used to drive LED keypad of portable equipment. The maximum height of the boost converter is only 0.625mm, and it does not require a large inductance, it can provide a solution for network card or other thin portable applications.
The FAN5665 uses a switch reset and fractional switching technique to obtain up to 92% efficiency and support 2.9V to 5.5V input voltage range. In addition, the switch is pre buffered to provide very low inrush current, thereby minimizing the noise on the power line. Moreover, the device does not need inductance, so it can reduce the EMI noise, and can save the time of system designer in the final system verification phase.
