Connet Optics plans to invest 180 million yuan in Rokid to expand into the field of smart glasses

On March 29, Connet Optics issued an announcement announcing that the company planned to invest 180 million yuan to participate in the latest round of financing of Lingban Technology (Hangzhou) Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as: Lingban Technology) to subscribe for its common shares.

According to the announcement, the investment will account for no more than 5% of the total equity of Lingban Technology after the completion of this round of financing. The investment will use the company's own internal resources, aiming to deepen the company's strategic layout in the field of smart glasses, enhance the synergy between the upstream and downstream of the industry chain, and strengthen cooperation with industry leading companies.

According to data, Lingban Technology is a unicorn company in the field of human-computer interaction and AR in China. Its Rokid brand smart glasses are in a leading position in the domestic consumer smart glasses market. Connet Optics has launched business cooperation with Lingban Technology, and it is expected that the cooperation between the two parties will be further deepened.

At the product level, Rokid has launched a variety of enterprise-level and consumer-level AR glasses, including Rokid Glass, Rokid Glass 2, Rokid X-Craft, Rokid Air, Rokid AR Lite and Rokid Glasses. At this year's CES, Rokid demonstrated a new generation of AI glasses, Rokid Glasses, using Micro LED and optical waveguide technology with a single-eye resolution of 480×480.

From the perspective of investors, Conate Optical is mainly engaged in the manufacturing and sales of resin spectacle lenses. In recent years, it has continued to seek product line diversification and market expansion opportunities. In January this year, the company also announced that it planned to sign a joint venture agreement with Goertek to expand into the field of AI/AR/VR/MR glasses. The scope of cooperation between the two parties covers the research and development, production and sales of customized smart glasses lenses, optical waveguide eyepieces (including myopia correction and non-correction solutions), as well as electrochromic and eye-tracking related optoelectronic components.

The board of directors of Connet Optics stated that this investment in Lingban Technology marks an important milestone in the company’s new business development of smart glasses and will help consolidate its leadership in the field of optometry solutions and create long-term value for shareholders.
