Apple recruits a large number of neural rendering researchers for VR/MR head-mounted display projects

December 5 news, Apple’s latest recruitment announcement shows that the company is recruiting neural rendering research scientists, hoping to achieve a fully immersive 3D experience on its upcoming VR headset. Apple has very high requirements for this position, at least having published papers at top conferences such as CVPR/ECCV/ICCV/SIGGRAPH/NeurIPS.

In addition, you must have a PhD in computer vision, computer graphics, machine learning or related fields, and be proficient in Python and deep learning frameworks (PyTorch or similar frameworks).

It is understood that the neural rendering research team belongs to Apple’s computer vision and machine perception technology research team. It focuses on cutting-edge algorithms for reconstruction, view synthesis, animation, editing, and automatic generation of photorealistic 3D scenes and applications such as Avatar.

Now, Apple's first head-mounted display device has entered the advanced stage of development. The device will be equipped with a pair of 4K OLED displays and 15 external camera modules, and may also support eye tracking and gesture functions. At present, the system used in Apple's head-mounted display has been exposed, named "xrOS". This system can be regarded as an upgraded version of the iOS system. It will have a dedicated App Store and ecosystem. It is said that the new system is very powerful and gorgeous.

However, according to well-known Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, the release of Apple's first head-mounted display device will be delayed until the second half of 2023 due to "software-related issues." (Source: Kuai Technology)
