AI PC sales proportion increased to 44%, HP announced its latest financial report

Personal computer (PC) and printer manufacturer Hewlett-Packard (HP) announced its latest financial report on May 27. Benefiting from strong demand for AI PCs, both revenue and profit in the last quarter were better than market expectations. However, HP warned that memory prices continue to rise, which may reduce profit margins in the second half of the year.

HP announced its financial report after the U.S. stock market closed on the 27th. In the second quarter of fiscal year 2026, revenue increased by 9% year-on-year to US$14.41 billion (approximately RMB 97.697 billion), which was better than Wall Street’s estimate of US$14.07 billion (approximately RMB 95.392 billion).

According to business groups, the main products are laptops and PC Personal Systems. Revenue in the second quarter increased by 13% year-on-year to US$10.2 billion, accounting for up to 70% of total revenue. HP pointed out that AI PC shipments accounted for 44% of overall PC shipments in the second quarter, higher than 35% in the previous quarter. It is expected to further increase to 60%~70% in 2027 and is expected to exceed 70% in 2028.

However, due to the surge in demand for HBM in AI data centers, a large amount of wafer production capacity is consumed, resulting in tight supply and soaring prices of PC and smartphone memory. HP said it has adjusted product design, purchased lower-cost components, prioritized high-margin products, and simultaneously raised prices to reflect the increase in raw material costs.

HP Chief Financial Officer Karen Parkhill pointed out that due to rising memory costs, operating profit margins are expected to bottom out in the fourth quarter, and are expected to gradually improve in 2027.

Printing's second-quarter revenue was US$4.2 billion, which was the same as the same period last year. (Source: MoneyDJ)
